Notah Begay III, Navajo Nation and San Felipe / Isleta Pueblo, the only full-blood Native American to play on the PGA Tour, was born and raised in Albuquerque New Mexico. In 1990 Begay started his collegiate career at Stanford University, finished with a degree in Economics and became a 3-time All-American while helping lead Stanford to a 1994 National Championship. In 1998 he shot the first “59” in the history of the Korn Ferry Tour and began a 12-year career on the PGA Tour with 4 wins and a spot on the 2000 US Presidents Cup Team. In 2005 he established the NB3 Foundation providing health and wellness education to Native American youth through sports programs. In 2009 he received Golf Magazine’s Innovator of the Year Award and in 2010 he was named the Institute for International Sport, Top 100 Sports Educators. In 2012, he joined the NBC Sports Broadcast Team providing coverage of golf’s biggest events. Begay was inducted into the Stanford University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014, the Albuquerque Academy Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021, and the National High School Hall of Fame in 2022 for his performance in basketball, soccer, and golf. In 2022 he served as the US Jr. President’s Cup Captain on the PGA Tour.
