W. Ron Allen is a member of the Jamestown S’Klallam tribe and has served as Tribal Chairman since 1977. Allen is responsible for representing the tribe as the elected leader and for addressing political and policy issues and/or positions at the national, state, and local levels. In his dual role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he is responsible for the executive administration of all the Tribe’s programs, including education, career development, social services, housing, health, economic development, natural resource management, and cultural and traditional affairs. Allen is responsible for bolstering the Tribe’s economic development, starting from a zero-resource base in 1982 to a current annual budget of over $100 million. Under his leadership and without federal assistance, the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe has gone from a landless reservation base in 1982 to expansion of its land holdings to over 1,800 acres. Additionally, he has led the Tribe to establish successful business enterprises, including Seven Cedars Casino & Resort, The Cedars Golf Course, Northwest Native Expressions Art Gallery, and JKT Development, Inc. Other successful tribal enterprises include JEX Excavating, Jamestown Concrete & Jamestown Surveying, Salish Trails RV & Campground, and Cedar Greens. Allen has served two terms as President of the National Congress of American Indian (NCAI) and is the current Chairman of the Washington Indian Gaming Association (WIGA).
