Exhibit to Showcase Inductee Video Interviews

(GREAT FALLS, Mont., April 6, 2022) — The National Native American Hall of Fame announced the receipt of a grant to create an exhibit at the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.

The $50,000  grant was awarded to the Hall of Fame by the Association of the Tribal Archives, Libraries and Museums through its: American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Native Culture Institutions grant-making program, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The National Native American Hall of Fame will utilize videotaped interviews of individual inductees as an integral part of its oral history exhibit, “Their Voices: Their Legacies.”

“This grant funding also makes it possible for the Hall of Fame to host a symposium on contemporary Native American oral history,” stated James Parker Shield, chief executive officer of the Hall of Fame.

Parker Shield expressed the Hall of Fame’s excitement at the opportunity to create an exhibit that will provide exposure for its highly accomplished inductees, each of whom has a story of greatness, achievement, and establishing a legacy in Indian Country.

The oral history exhibit is expected to be installed for a November 2022 opening at the First Americans Museum.

An integral part of the Hall of Fame’s mission is to educate the public about contemporary Native American people and exemplary individuals by shedding light on the lives and stories of Native peoples’ struggles and triumphs beyond what is taught in history books.
